Lotus Root ෴ නෙලුම් අල
Lotus root is an oblong, tubular rhizome or stem that grows underground in bodies of water, averaging 5-10 centimeters in diameter and 10-20 centimeters in length.Rhizomes contain high amounts of starch without characteristic taste or odor. The texture is comparable to a raw potato. Lotus root is a popular vegetable in Sri Lanka, where it is often cooked in coconut milk gravy. In India, lotus root is cooked as a dry curry or sabzi.
